Julidè Mayer presents: Mapping EU Health Policy Relations with neighbouring third countries

The EUHealthGov network is delighted to welcome Julidè Mayer on Thursday 6 November 2025 at 2pm GMT for a work-in-progress presentation on EU health policy relations with neighbouring countries.

The EU’s relations with neighbouring third countries affect population health and health policy in many ways. From access to medicines and healthcare, to health workforce mobility, data protection, and disease surveillance, EU health policy is characterised by close and complex political and legal intertwinement with its neighbours. Furthermore, these relationships are not static, they constantly evolve, especially in the current context of accelerated geopolitical change and health crises. Julidè Mayer’s research offers a framework for analysing these relations which sheds light on their multifaceted and differentiated nature, and facilitates the systematic analysis of their impacts on health.

Julidè Mayer is a second-year MPH student in Global Health Management and Policy at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Her research focuses on international health policy and governance, with an emphasis on cross-border cooperation. Recently, she was a visiting researcher at City St George’s, University of London, where she examined the European Union’s health policy relationships with neighbouring third countries, exploring challenges and collaboration in this dynamic regional context.
